Millennium bim has joined the 16th National School Sports Games Festival, scheduled to run from 29 August to 6 September in Inhambane province. The event brings together young students from across the country and stands as one of Mozambique’s principal national initiatives dedicated to school-level sport.
According to a statement issued by the bank, this year’s edition will feature 1,430 students aged between 11 and 16, selected from across the national territory. Participants will compete in athletics, handball, basketball, football, gymnastics, traditional games, volleyball, and chess.
By supporting the school games, Millennium bim is aligning itself with an initiative that spans two core pillars of its corporate social responsibility programme: education and youth sport. The festival provides students with the opportunity to compete, develop skills, and share experiences with peers from different regions of the country.
Beyond competition, the initiative promotes interaction among students from diverse backgrounds. Gathering in Inhambane will allow participants to encounter new experiences, build new relationships, and share moments outside the familiar context of their own schools and provinces.
Commenting on the partnership, Rui Pedro, Chief Executive of Millennium bim, underscored the bank’s commitment to education and youth sport as pillars of its social engagement: “Education and youth sport are important axes of our corporate social responsibility activity.”
Rui Pedro added that Millennium bim aims to contribute to ensuring that young Mozambicans have opportunities to learn, develop skills, and discover their potential. “The school games represent exactly that: more than a competition, they are a space where values such as discipline, respect, perseverance, teamwork, inclusion, and solidarity are cultivated — values that are fundamental to the personal and social growth of these young people.”
Through the partnership, Millennium bim reaffirms its commitment to initiatives that provide children and young people with opportunities for learning, participation, and skills development.
