The oil company Sasol and its partners are investing more than 3 million meticals in the rehabilitation of Chitsotso Primary School, in Inhassoro district, Inhambane province. The infrastructure was partially damaged when Cyclone Freddy hit in February.
According to the general manager of Sasol in Mozambique, Ovídio Rodolfo, the initiative began at the beginning of August and “is part of a social and corporate responsibility initiative developed by the company. Our efforts, this time collectively, are aimed at providing an even better environment for community development. At the moment, we have the support of various organisations, especially ForAfrika, Vilcon, Madiver, João Jonas, Assistec, Técnica Engenheiros e Consultores and Kainda,” he added.
For his part, the district’s permanent secretary, José Fernandes Matsinhe, thanked Sasol for promoting education and called on the students to remain committed to their studies.
“The company’s support is an important milestone in providing decent teaching and learning conditions,” he emphasised.
The rehabilitation work is expected to be completed by the end of October.
