Deloitte to Support Social Projects in Mozambique for the First Time: Applications Open

Applications are now open for the PACT Fund, an initiative that Deloitte is once again promoting, for the tenth consecutive year, to support social projects in Portugal, Angola and, from this 10th edition, for the first time, Mozambique.

For almost a decade, the PACT Fund has been financing social intervention projects run by non-profit organisations in the third sector, as part of Deloitte’s global Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability strategy.

Applications are open until 5 November for third sector organisations wishing to submit one or more projects in the areas of education, employability and entrepreneurship, with the addition of a new area this year, environmental sustainability.

The selection process will take into account elements such as the impact and viability of the project, or the innovative nature of its approach. The selected projects will receive a maximum of 30,000 euros per project, which may be partial or total.

In addition to the monetary support granted to each selected project, one or more Deloitte professionals will also be allocated to act as mentors on a voluntary basis, accompanying the project from its initial phase to its conclusion.

For Afonso Arnaldo, Deloitte partner and Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Leader, “the tenth edition of the PACT Fund is a very special moment, representing an important milestone that signals our ongoing commitment to social institutions and the community in which we operate, through the support that this year we have extended to a new area of intervention and also to a new geography. Environmental sustainability is, as we know, one of today’s challenges, so it seemed essential to us to extend our support to truly innovative initiatives in this area.”

In nine editions of the PACT Fund, more than 230 Deloitte employees have supported the projects as mentors, totalling more than 2,000 volunteer hours. Since the first edition of the PACT Fund, the programme has accumulated more than 700 applications, a total of 66 supported projects and more than 115,000 people impacted, directly or indirectly, by the selected projects.

The selection of the institutions and projects to be supported will be analysed by an evaluation committee made up of professionals from different geographies and Deloitte business areas. This committee has been restructured for this year’s edition to better reflect and represent the diversity of Deloitte’s teams.
