The World Bank is developing a project aimed at reducing pressure on forest and wildlife resources in the Marromeu Complex, in Sofala.
The initiative covers about three thousand families, who will benefit from funding for income generation activities.
The idea is to lead the communities to find other sources of livelihood that do not pose a danger to biodiversity, such as poaching and indiscriminate logging in the conservation area.
Named Mozbio, the project encourages the practice of agriculture, fishing, livestock and aquaculture, according to the director of the Provincial Service of Economic Activities in Sofala.
Adérito Mavie said that thanks to the initiative, there is already some improvement in the environmental protection within the Marromeu Complex.
