Nedbank Mozambique has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental preservation by renewing its partnership with Gorongosa National Park, reinforcing its support for the Park’s conservation department. This collaboration aims to expand efforts to protect biodiversity and intensify the fight against poaching, with support for the rehabilitation of endangered species, such as the pangolin, and the preservation of critical habitats in the protected area.
According to the O Económico portal, during the ceremony to sign the agreement, held in Gorongosa Park, Joel Rodrigues, chairman of the executive committee of Mozambican President, emphasised the importance of the initiative for the conservation of Mozambique’s natural heritage.
‘Supporting Gorongosa National Park is directly contributing to the protection of our natural heritage and to the recognition of this park as one of the largest and most important in Africa,’ said Rodrigues.
The administrator of Gorongosa National Park, Pedro Muagura, expressed his appreciation for the renewal of the partnership, emphasising that Nedbank’s continued support is essential for strengthening the park’s capacity to combat illegal practices and protect the local ecosystem.
The collaboration between the bank and the park exemplifies the role of private companies in supporting conservation initiatives, combining efforts with environmental organisations to promote a sustainable future.
In addition to the direct partnership, Nedbank Moçambique promotes sustainability through products such as Gorongosa credit and prepaid cards, which allow customers to contribute to the preservation of the Park.
According to the portal’s article, the bank’s presence in various Mozambican cities reflects its commitment to leading actions with a social and environmental impact, as well as fostering customer satisfaction.
