UNESCO inscribed Maputo National Park, in Mozambique, on the World Heritage List this Sunday. The Maputo Park is connected to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park in South Africa, which already holds World Heritage status.
Additionally, the Bijagós Islands in Guinea-Bissau were also designated as a Natural World Heritage site, becoming the first location in that African country to be included on the UNESCO list.
The decision was announced this morning in Paris, France, during the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which runs until the 16th at the organization’s headquarters in the French capital.
