Chinese Medical Mission Arrives in Mozambique

A Chinese medical mission, which includes 12 specialists, will strengthen the Maputo Central Hospital for a year and a half, the Chinese embassy in Mozambique announced Friday, 28 October.

According to a statement, the Chinese team includes anesthesiologists, orthopedists, obstetricians and gynecologists, urologists, acupuncture experts and gastrointestinal surgeons.

This, the 24th medical mission sent to Mozambique by the health commission of Sichuan province, in southwest China, was received at the Ministry of Health (MISAU).

On the occasion, the economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese embassy, Liu Xiaoguang, welcomed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the area of health, emphasizing the beginning of the production of medical supplies through Sino-Mozambican partnerships.

In his turn, the deputy director of the medical assistance department of the MOH, Sérgio Seni, praised the performance of the 23rd Chinese medical team, also with 12 specialists, which is finishing a one and a half year mission in the national territory.

During the period it has been in the country, the 23rd Chinese medical mission has treated over 12 thousand patients and implemented the vaccination campaign for Chinese residents in Mozambique.
