The Government of Canada announced last Friday, February 17, that about 800 million meticals are available to finance projects of economic empowerment of people living in rural areas in Mozambique.
The initiative, which is already being implemented in the districts of Marracuene and Manhiça, in the province of Maputo, and in Chókwè, Guijá and Manjacaze, in Gaza, will cover about three thousand people between men and women, until 2026.
The information was provided by the Director of Operations of the International Development Cooperation Society of Canada, Rui Vasco, during a visit to the district of Marracuene.
According to the source, the project already has more than a thousand beneficiaries at the level of the areas where it was implemented, and the Government of Canada makes a positive assessment of the course of the project, especially in Marracuene.
In his turn, the administrator of the Marracuene district, Shafee Sidat, said that the initiative has contributed to the improvement of the living conditions of the population, especially women.
The economic empowerment projects concern the areas of agriculture, poultry farming, aquaculture and fishing.
