The President of Botswana is making a state visit to Mozambican between the 10th and 12th of this week, to deepen bilateral cooperation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, said on Monday, 8 July.
According to the Lusa news agency, she announced Mokgweetsi Masisi’s visit, speaking at the end of the eighth session of the Joint Cooperation Commission between the governments of Mozambique and Botswana.
“The conclusion of eight legal instruments to be signed during the next state visit is a clear sign of the interest in deepening co-operation,” said the head of Mozambican diplomacy.
She pointed out that “the signing of the agreements will certainly constitute a testimony and commitment by the two governments to continue working together, towards the progress and well-being of the peoples of Mozambique and Botswana”.
The source said that the eighth session of the Joint Cooperation Commission held in Maputo produced “concrete and tangible results”, including the evaluation of the programme to exchange experiences in the areas of politics and diplomacy, defence and security, economic and social affairs, as well as the exchange of views and consultation on bilateral, regional, continental and international affairs.
On the occasion, developments on the creation of a permanent joint defence and security commission, the preparation of a meeting between Botswana, Mozambique and Zimbabwe and the state of implementation of the Techobanine Port project were also analysed.
