The Beluluane Industrial Park, in Boane district, will invest over the next ten years US$100 million in the creation of over 200 companies that may generate over 20 thousand jobs.
The fact was disclosed yesterday, in Matola, by the park’s director general, Onório Boane, during the act of delivery of IT equipment to the Maputo Provincial Executive Council.
In an investment of 1.5 million meticais, the equipment is made up of eight laptop computers, two desktop computers, the same number of monitors and UPS, a kit for Internet installation and payment of the monthly fee corresponding to the respective use, during the period of validity of this memorandum.
The over 200 companies, Onório Boane said, may be set up in a remaining area of around 400 hectares, where the Industrial Park has a DUAT. Boane said that the Beluluane Industrial Park planned to set up in the near future in Moma, in Nampula province, where heavy sands were being mined.
The Beluluane Industrial Park, according to the rector, intends to be more and more a reference company to meet the concerns of Maputo Provincial Executive.
In his turn, Júlio Parruque, Governor of Maputo Province, who witnessed the signing of the memorandum, said that the park had fully met the concerns of the population and as an example it currently employs 7,000 local workers.
“The memorandum between the Maputo Provincial Executive Council and the Beluluane Industrial Park is the formalisation of our partnership, which has already been materialised through various actions,” he said.
The highlight, according to his words, goes to actions of sensitization and mobilization of the population for the fight against Covid-19, embodied in the provision of prevention inputs.
The promotion and sponsorship of paid pre-professional internships for the province’s youths is also highlighted, an initiative that adds value to the efforts of the Provincial Executive Council, aiming at reducing unemployment levels.
“We are very grateful for this gesture by the Beluluane Industrial Park, which is for us a clear demonstration of the private sector’s contribution to strengthening our institutional capacity, as a decentralised governance body,” he said.
He noted that Maputo province is home to the country’s largest industrial park, so “this condition challenges its repositioning, in the sense of taking responsibility for being one of the biggest contributors to the economy.
