The Northern Integrated Development Agency (ADIN) announced the allocation of 23 million dollars (1.4 billion meticais) to promote economic and social projects in the provinces of Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa, in the north of the country, Lusa reported.
According to the information, during the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the agency’s new office in Nampula, held this Wednesday, July 24, the president of ADIN, Jacinto Loureiro, pointed out that these funds come from various organisations, including the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and are intended exclusively for the northern part of the country.
The projects to be funded aim to address the pressing issues of the population, especially the victims of the armed attacks in Cabo Delgado, which have been taking place since 2017. ADIN, officially launched in August 2020 by President Filipe Nyusi, aims to reduce regional asymmetries and promote development in the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado and Nampula, which have high poverty rates.

According to the information, this project is part of ‘Conecta Negócios’ and is scheduled to be completed within 12 months from the date of the foundation stone laying. The construction of this building is a significant step towards strengthening ADIN’s capacities and the effective implementation of development projects in the region.
