In the first nine months of this year, the province of Zambézia, in the centre of the country, recorded exports of goods and services worth 53 billion meticais, out of a target of 61 billion meticals by the end of the year.
The figures were released this Thursday, 26 October, by a technician from Zambézia’s Provincial Economic Activities Service, during an activity review session, who highlighted this figure as representing an increase of 9% when compared to the same period last year, and there is therefore an expectation that the planned target will be reached.
According to Agnélio Bissane, quoted by the newspaper Noticias, during the period in question, the One-Stop Shop collected 3,500 meticais, a figure that represents a decrease of 9 per cent in relation to the revenue achieved in the same period last year.
“From January to September, industrial production tripled by collecting 21.3 billion meticais, after standing at 7 billion in 2022,” the source pointed out.
Reacting to these figures, the Secretary of State in Zambézia province, Cristina Mafumo, challenged the institution to improve the planning mechanisms to avoid failing to meet the target.
“These figures should translate into improved living conditions for producer families and economic growth in Zambézia,” she concluded.
