Zambézia and Niassa to Host Economic Forums To Boost Exports And Investment

Authorities from Zambézia Province and Niassa Province have announced the organization of strategic economic events aimed at boosting exports and investment. The announcement was made during the second international trade workshop focused on access to export financing, organized by ExportaMoz Solutions and held this Wednesday (15) in Maputo. The events are intended to strengthen the business environment and stimulate value chains.

Niassa Governor Elina Massengele highlighted the province’s agricultural potential, noting that “Niassa is the largest province in the country, with optimal agro-ecological conditions for agricultural production.” According to the official, the current focus is on strengthening agricultural output and adding value to its products.

She announced that an investment forum will take place on the 27th of this month, with priority given to processing crops such as beans and strawberries. “We want to develop the entire value chain of these crops, not just production,” Elina Massengele said, adding that the event will feature both national and international speakers to share experiences.

In the same context, the governor invited investors to consider opportunities in the region, noting that around 90% of production is family-based. “Niassa offers opportunities for investment,” she said, emphasizing that increasing commercial production could help generate foreign exchange through exports.

Meanwhile, Zambézia’s Provincial Director of Industry and Trade, Regina Ngode, highlighted the upcoming first edition of the Zambézia Economic and Social Forum (FESA), scheduled for the first half of June in Quelimane. The event aims to promote sustainable economic development.

“This is a highly important initiative for strengthening the national business fabric,” she said, explaining that the forum will promote the business environment, encourage industrial activity, and create opportunities for investment and business partnerships.

Regina Ngode also emphasized Zambézia’s potential across several sectors, including agriculture, tourism, and logistics. “Zambézia is open to investment,” she stated, highlighting infrastructure such as the Port of Quelimane and the future Port of Macuse as strategic assets to facilitate the export of goods and services.
