The Mozambican President, revealed that more than 40 per cent of the investment projects registered in the country in 2023 were aimed at the tourism sector, earning 7.3 billion dollars.
“Tourism brought in a total of 7.3 billion dollars, due to the large number of projects received, contributing 8.9 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product compared to 7.4 per cent in 2022,” he explained.
Speaking during the inauguration of a tourist resort (Ponta Mbembene Lodge, located inside the Maputo National Park) in Maputo province, he explained that the good results are related to the measures implemented by the government, which consist of improving the business environment, developing support infrastructures, restoring wildlife and training human resources.
With regard to the new development, Nyusi emphasised its location “in one of the best tourist spots in the country, and it will serve to protect nature”.
“As well as contributing to the public accounts, developments of this nature will help to create jobs for young people living in local communities,” he concluded.
