The masterplan for tourism development in the Crusse & Jamali region, located in the Mossuril district of Nampula province, will be finalised by January 2025, according to Nuno Fortes, director of Investment Services and Tourism Development at the National Tourism Institute (INATUR), as reported by the newspaper Noticias.
According to Fortes, the plan is in the final stages of preparation and is being financed by the World Bank, through the ‘Conecta Negócios’ economic links for diversification project, with a total value of 19.1 billion meticais (300 million dollars). The aim is to turn Crusse & Jamali into a leading tourist destination, promoting economic and social development in Nampula province.
The 1,750 hectare area will be used to build world-class tourist infrastructures, including five-star hotels, villas, chalets, a golf course and a shopping area, with the capacity to accommodate up to 600 tourists.
In addition, the World Bank funding will support the creation of support infrastructures, such as public service networks, which are essential for attracting investment and guaranteeing sustainable tourism in the region.
Nuno Fortes also explained that the project aims to create synergies with Nacala Airport and other infrastructures in the region, facilitating access and improving investment conditions. ‘The masterplan will be a key instrument for attracting investors and speeding up the tourism development of Crusse & Jamali,’ he said.
The islands of Crusse & Jamali are located around 40 kilometres from Ilha de Moçambique and 150 kilometres from the city of Nampula, reinforcing their potential as a prestigious tourist destination in the region.
