Mozambique Tourism Summit Targets Up to US$500M in Investment in November

Mozambique expects to mobilise between US$350 million and US$500 million in investment during the second edition of the Mozambique Tourism Summit, scheduled for November, according to the conference curator Paulo Dimande.

"We will have between 800 and 1,000 participants at the event. Around 60% to 70% are expected to come from 30 European countries, and one of the targets we want to achieve is mobilising between US$350 million and US$500 million in investment," Dimande said.

The Mozambique Tourism Summit 2026 is scheduled for 5 and 6 November in Vilankulo, in Inhambane Province, under the theme "Mozambique, Where Africa Reinvents Itself". The organisers anticipate the participation of between 800 and 1,000 people, including representatives from more than 30 countries.

To support investment mobilisation, approximately 50 Mozambican projects requiring capital will be presented during the event. In Inhambane Province, between 12 and 15 areas are available for concession, covering around 2,500 hectares designated for tourism activities.

"Mozambique is ready to position itself as one of the main frontiers of tourism and investment in Africa," Dimande said, calling on the private sector to participate in the conference to forge partnerships and pursue business opportunities.

One of the identified opportunities is investment along the Vilankulo and Inhassouro waterfront, a coastal strip of approximately 35 kilometres where the government intends to promote the construction of tourist resorts and hotels.

"The second opportunity involves tourism auctions and concessions. We will auction approximately 2,500 hectares of idle land for tourism purposes. The third opportunity consists of very well-structured meetings," Dimande explained, adding that the success of the event also depends on the involvement of strategic partners.

The Minister of Economy, Basílio Muhate, called on business leaders to participate in the conference, describing it as an opportunity to debate and seek solutions that contribute to improving the national tourism sector. According to the minister, Mozambique received just over 1.5 million visitors in the tourism sector in 2025.

Muhate stated that the government intends to create better mechanisms to enable businesses to generate revenue, employment, and opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises. The minister also argued that this year's edition should result in more concrete commitments, signed business deals, and investment intentions that help establish Vilankulo and Inhambane Province as leading tourism destinations in the country.
