Africa Travel Indaba 2024: Mozambique is Among the 26 African Countries Taking Part in the African Tourism Fair 2024

Mozambique is among the 26 African countries taking part in the 2024 edition of the African Tourism Fair, which kicks off this Monday in the South African city of Durban.

The South African Ministry of Tourism has already announced that this will be the first time that 26 African countries will be taking part in the event, including Burkina Faso, Guinea Conakry and Eritrea.

A total of 1,30 African exhibitors have registered to showcase the best that the African continent has to offer in terms of tourism until next Thursday.

There will be three hundred and forty-four tourism products on display, compared to three hundred and one last year, according to a statement from the South African Ministry of Tourism.

This year’s fair is expected to mobilise close to 900 buyers from all over the world, representing travel agencies, destination marketing companies and airlines.

South Africa continues to argue that tourism should be seen and considered as a driver of the economy, which has recently been affected by the covid-19 pandemic.

The South Africans are expected to present updated data on the sector’s recovery after the ‘brake’ imposed by the new coronavirus.

Mozambique’s ambassador to South Africa, Maria Manuela Lucas, is already in Durban to take part in the event.

This Monday, in the company of the Director General of the National Tourism Institute, Maria Manuela Lucas is taking part in a dialogue of Tourism Ministers from the African continent.

This dialogue is for African tourism ministers, political decision-makers and sector specialists to share ideas and discuss issues affecting tourism on the African continent.

The official opening ceremony of the African Tourism Fair is scheduled for tomorrow and will be addressed by the South African Minister of Tourism, Patrice De Lille.
