Mozambique Expects More than 6,500 Participants at the International Tourism Fair

Mozambique is expecting 6,500 participants and more than 220 exhibitors at the International Tourism Fair, from 8 to 11 August in Maputo, the deputy minister of culture and tourism said today.

‘The fair will be an exceptional showcase for our country’s cultural and tourist riches and this event will not only provide opportunities for exhibitors and participants to explore business opportunities, but will also serve as a stage for the celebration of our rich cultural diversity and cultural heritage,’ said Fredson Bacar.

He said that the International Tourism Fair (Fikani) is also a space created to showcase the country’s potential, with a view to attracting investment and selling the country’s image.

For the 10th edition of the fair, to be held at the Mozambique-China Cultural Centre, the participation of more than 220 exhibitors is confirmed, with 145 promotional spaces.

Eight countries, including Portugal, Spain, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Angola and Namibia, have already confirmed their presence at the fair, announced Fredson Bacar, adding that the registration process is still open.

At the 2024 edition, in addition to exhibiting tourism products and business opportunities, the Mozambican government wants to promote debates on tourism, create mechanisms to offer services and promotional packages for air, rail and road transport and promote packages for tours and professional internships in the sector.

‘The tourism and travel industry has the potential and the role to contribute to economic growth and development, the impact of which is felt in the increase in the quality of life of society, which can benefit through jobs, professional academic training and moments of leisure,’ he emphasised.
