The business community in Tete Province has expressed satisfaction with the approval of Decree No. 20/2025 of July 9, which grants the forgiveness of fines and reduction of late payment interest to taxpayers and self-employed workers (TCP) with debts to the National Social Security Institute (INSS).
According to a publication by Jornal Rigor, the reaction was voiced during a seminar held last Friday (August 1) in the city of Tete, led by the Director of Tete’s Provincial Services of Justice and Labour, Sérgio Raimundo Matule, and attended by representatives of over 120 indebted companies.
On the occasion, Matule praised the Government’s initiative, highlighting that “the measure will ease the financial burden on companies and ensure the rights of workers enrolled in the social security system.”
He urged eligible taxpayers to promptly go to the INSS branches in Cahora Bassa, Angónia, and Moatize, as well as the service posts in Macanga, Mutarara, and Songo, to learn about the procedures for joining the program.
However, for business owners, the measure is seen as “another opportunity to regularize outstanding debts, recover financial stability, and ensure the payment of overdue social contributions.”
Despite the relief measure, the debt situation with the INSS remains concerning. In Tete Province, 2,228 companies are registered as debtors, with a total debt of approximately 290 million meticais. In the first half of this year alone, over 35 million meticais were recovered — surpassing the annual recovery target set for the province.
