“State Will Not Tolerate Fraudulent Exporters,” Warns Celso Correia

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Celso Correia, said recently that the State will not tolerate and will punish exporters that try to deceive the Mozambican state and the agrarian producer families.

The governor made these statements in Monapo district, in the early afternoon of the same day, in front of producers and private sector agents empowered under the SUSTENTA programme.

In the morning, Correia inaugurated a sesame pre-processing factory in Nacala-Porto, from where he headed to the locality of Nacololo, where, in the middle of a sesame cultivation field, he started by interacting with producers to gather their levels of satisfaction, as well as dissatisfaction.

In this regard, the “father” of SUSTENTA said that “what we can announce is that this year the production of oilseeds, we are talking about sesame, cotton, soya, has risen by 20 per cent. This is the calculation that is on the table. 20% is a significant figure”.

Already more inspired, Celso Correia announced that “now, we have problems. We are adjusting the programme to respond to the experiences we are gathering and the contributions we are collecting throughout this year.

And one of the great challenges is to make sure that this production that leaves here, through the port, leaves at a fair price, because he who exports a product that is worth one thousand dollars per tonne on the international market, if he arrives at the tax office and registers five hundred dollars, it means that half of what should be entering into Mozambique is entering”, and he asks: “the rest of the money, of the production, is going where?”
