Ressano Border Creates Special Service for Miners

Six counters of fast and privileged service for miners will be open within days at the border of Ressano Garcia, in Maputo province, revealed the National Migration Service (SENAMI).

According to SENAMI’s spokesman in Maputo province, Juca Bata, the measure aims to avoid floods and long waiting hours for service, clarifying that, of the total number of counters, three will be available for entries into the country and the same number for exits. It is expected that 30 thousand miners will cross the border in the coming days.

“This facility will be in force until January 12, when the Tsakane joint operation, launched last week for the Christmas and New Year holidays, will end,” said Juca Bata.

Recently, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), one of the entities involved in the Tsakane operation, announced the reduction of the number of mobile checkpoints, better known as “road block”.

The idea is to reduce the time for clearance of goods and to observe good practices and respect in attendance, without harming public order and safety.
