“Ready to Work” Programme: Thousands of Young People Benefit From Free Training in Mozambique

At least five thousand young Mozambicans will be able to benefit from free training in Interpersonal Skills Development, Communication, Financial Management and Business Skills by the end of this year.

The initiative comes from ABSA Bank Mozambique, through the “Ready to Work” programme, which this year, in its eighth edition, will expand to the provinces of Manica, Sofala, Zambézia and Tete, in the centre of the country.

The director of Marketing and Corporate Relations at Absa Bank Moçambique, Tânia Oliveira, said that the goal is to transform the professional trajectory of young Mozambicans.

“Ready to Work has consolidated itself, year after year, as a milestone for Mozambican youth and the expansion of the programme to the central region and direct collaboration with universities takes us to new heights, placing us on the path of young people committed to transforming their professional trajectories,” she said.

In these initiatives, the banking institution works in partnership with local universities to enable the programme to be better adapted to the specific needs of young people and for the opportunities to be better publicised.

The Director explained that through strategic partnerships with universities they strengthen the impact of the programme, allowing young people in the regions served to have direct access to essential resources for their professional preparation.

“These collaborations make it easier to offer workshops and practical sessions, allowing for an immersive learning experience,” she emphasised.

Since its launch in 2016, the “Ready to Work” programme has trained more than 18,000 young people across the country, offering free training in different areas.
In addition to face-to-face sessions in the provinces of central Mozambique, the programme is also available online to reach interested young people in other regions of the country.

“With a commitment to promoting continuous and accessible education for Mozambique’s socio-economic growth, in the future we intend to expand the programme’s reach even further, including all the regions where it operates, with all its agencies serving as points of support and promotion,” concluded Tânia Oliveira, quoted in a note from the institution sent to AIM today.
