A new platform for registering suppliers of goods and services to the state was recently launched in Maputo, an initiative that aims to combat influence peddling, clientelism and undue intervention by business agents, among other illegal practices.
According to the president of the Information and Communication Technologies department of the Mozambican Chamber of Commerce (CCM), Roberto Mavume, the act is in line with the new Public Procurement Regulations, and only companies that are registered on the new platform will be able to take part in public tenders for the supply of goods and services to the state.
“The mechanism was created to ensure the provision of services and goods to the state. The registration of companies on the platform is essential, as it will encourage transparency, good administration and equal access to public procurement opportunities. The biggest benefit for entrepreneurs is being able to access it immediately, wherever they are, to issue their documents and update them in record time, without forming long queues,” he stressed.
