Cashew nut processing factory installed since the year 2016 in Murrupula district, in Nampula province, expects to export in the present year about two hundred tons of cashew kernel.
At the moment that industrial unit is processing a total of 300 tonnes of cashew nuts, which it acquired from local producers and from other districts of the province during the last marketing campaign for the product.
The data was disclosed, recently, by the factory managers, on the occasion of the visit of the Secretary of State of Nampula province, Mety Gondola.
Meanwhile, the owners of the factory complex pointed out the unfair competition between the main participants in the commercialisation campaign of cashew nuts in the province as well as the lack of buyers for the almonds on the international market as being some of the difficulties they are facing.
Mety Gondola assured that the Government is working together with the partners in order to find solutions for the several problems that the national cashew processing industry is facing.
The governor urged the factory workers to behave well in the performance of their activities, showing commitment and dedication so that the only industrial unit operating in Murrupula district does not close, endangering their jobs.
India and the United States of America are the main export markets for cashew kernels processed in that factory.
The factory currently employs 355 workers, 172 of whom are women.
