The theme of this year’s Tourism Week, which started on Wednesday, 21 September and runs until 27 September, will be “Rethinking Tourism,” according to a statement from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The focus is on boosting the recovery and growth of the sector taking into account the negative impacts caused by the covid-19 pandemic.

The central launch ceremony for Tourism Week was held at the same time as the launch of the 8th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FIKANI), at a hotel unit in the city of Maputo, and will be led by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Eldevina Materula.

The tourism week is celebrated throughout the country with the promotion of various activities such as lectures, excursions to tourist sites, exhibitions on the country’s tourism potential, among others.

Mozambique was elected to the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) for the period 2021-2025.
