The central Mozambican province of Manica will hold on Friday its first international investment and development conference to attract businesses to explore the region’s potential.
Speaking in the provincial capital, Chimoio, on Tuesday at a press conference held to announce the event, the Secretary of State for Manica, Edson Macuacua, stressed that the event is of great importance as it will publicise the potential for investment of the province. In particular, he said, “we want new ventures and partners, businesses, and more jobs to be born out of this conference”.
He stressed that Manica offers enormous potential for the development of various investments and businesses across various value chains. In addition, he said, the province is in an excellent geostrategic position in the centre of the country with easy access to raw materials and both national and international markets.
Macuacua noted “we are in a corridor with access to countries in the hinterland. We also are a province rich in mineral resources with an agro-ecological environment that allows for the diversification of the economy in the agriculture, mining, forestry and wildlife, tourism, and transport and communications sectors”.
He concluded, “Manica is a province still to be discovered. That is why we invite all businesses, investors, and other stakeholders in the business sector to get to know and invest in this region of the country”.
The international conference on investment and development of Manica province is a one-day event.
