Mozambique Hosts LEX Africa 2025: A Gateway for Legal and Investment Growth

Mozambique is set to host the LEX Africa Conference 2025, a major Pan-African legal and business gathering at Maputo’s Serena Polana Hotel on 16 October.

The event, themed “A New Era for Africa in a Changing Global Landscape,” marks a milestone for the LEX Africa Alliance, the continent’s first and largest legal network uniting more than 600 lawyers across 30 African jurisdictions.

The LEX Africa Conference 2025 will bring together legal leaders, policymakers, and investors from 21 countries to discuss Africa’s evolving business environment. Represented locally by JLA Advogados, one of Mozambique’s most dynamic law firms, the alliance has been pivotal in bridging Africa and the Lusophone world through a partnership with Portugal’s Abreu Advogados.

A Pan-African Legal Powerhouse

Founded in 1993, LEX Africa has established itself as a premier legal network, recognised as a Band 1 Leading Regional Law Firm Network by Chambers and Partners and twice awarded African Legal Network of the Year by Law.com. Its presence spans banking and finance, energy, infrastructure, and corporate law, reflecting a deep understanding of Africa’s diverse markets and regulatory frameworks.

At the LEX Africa Conference 2025, panels will cover critical issues shaping the continent’s trajectory — from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and local content in oil, gas, and mining, to sustainability and Dubai’s role as an emerging hub for African investment. The event aims to highlight opportunities and foster collaboration across borders, showcasing Africa’s growing legal sophistication in the global economy.

Mozambique in the Spotlight

For Mozambique, hosting the LEX Africa Conference 2025 signals more than prestige — it underscores the country’s ambition to become a regional legal and investment hub. The event’s agenda reflects Mozambique’s key strategic interests: attracting foreign investment, strengthening business confidence, and enhancing legal innovation.

With speakers from the World Bank, APIEX, MozParks, Total Energies, ABSA, Mota-Engil and major firms like EY,Abreu Advogados and Mayer Brown, the conference will provide a rare convergence of legal insight and economic foresight. Mozambique’s active participation reinforces its commitment to sustainable development, transparency, and the rule of law — vital pillars for investor confidence.

Beyond technical sessions, the event highlights the importance of Lusophone-African cooperation. Through JLA Advogados’ partnership with Abreu Advogados, Mozambique plays a bridging role between Portuguese-speaking Africa and international markets, particularly Europe and the Gulf.

A New Era for Africa’s Legal and Economic Landscape

In an era of shifting global dynamics, the LEX Africa Conference 2025 provides a timely platform for dialogue and innovation. The alliance’s continued emphasis on ESG, CSR, and the training of young lawyers signals a forward-looking vision aligned with Africa’s broader development agenda.

As the continent navigates new trade frameworks, digital transformation, and climate challenges, legal collaboration will be key to unlocking sustainable growth. Mozambique’s leadership in hosting the conference cements its position at the forefront of Africa’s transformation — where law, investment, and innovation converge.
