Eleven thousand, four hundred and twenty-three tourists, of which 9543 Mozambicans, visited Tete province in 2022 , making use of the tourist resorts available, in a milestone which had a significant contribution in the second half of the year, when the sector began to register a progressive recovery .
Tete Provincial director of Culture and Tourism, Ricardo Baulene, considers that it was a positive year.
“With the relaxation of Covid-19 prevention measures, we began to see a considerable arrival of nationals and foreigners, the resumption of activities, festivals and public entertainment, the reopening of tourist establishments that were closed and the resumption of jobs”, he listed .
Baulene noted that the sector registered 14 new investments, ten of which were in the food and beverage sector, three accommodation projects and one travel agency. Of these, 11 are located in the city of Tete and three in the district of Cahora Bassa, generating 114 jobs.
