Tirupati Graphite Appoints New Project Manager in Mozambique

Tirupati Graphite, a British company listed on the London Stock Exchange and specialising in the exploration and processing of graphite, has announced a series of changes to its management structure, including the appointment of Uday Singh as project manager for Mozambique and Madagascar, according to Engineering News.

The decision is part of a broad internal restructuring process aimed at strengthening corporate governance and improving the company’s operational efficiency in the markets where it operates.

With a growing presence in Africa, the company has been consolidating its position in the mining sector, betting on Mozambique as one of its strategic points for the expansion of graphite exploration, an essential mineral for the production of lithium-ion batteries and other industrial applications.

Singh’s appointment comes in the context of a reorganisation of the board of directors, in which Anthony James Nieuwenhuys was appointed executive director and co-CEO, taking over alongside Shishir Poddar, with the prospect of a future full transfer of executive power.

The company believes that this change will allow for greater transparency in decision-making and a strengthening of the global strategy. At the same time, new hires have also been made for key management positions, including Harshit Poddar, who will take over as head of sales and marketing, and Alastair Bath, who will be responsible for special projects and corporate communications.

In addition to these appointments, the company is at an advanced stage of negotiations to hire a new chief financial officer (CFO), to be based in London, with a view to greater control and supervision of its financial structure.

The changes at the top of Tirupati Graphite’s hierarchy come at a time of internal transformation, driven by the need to strengthen investor confidence and guarantee more efficient and transparent management.

The restructuring of the company began after a group of shareholders, representing 5.8 per cent of the company’s capital, requested an extraordinary general meeting to challenge the previous administration and demand significant changes to the board of directors.

The initiative led to the dismissal of the then chairman and the reformulation of the leadership, which is now seeking to adopt stricter measures to improve corporate governance and optimise strategic decision-making.

The company’s internal reorganisation has a direct impact on its projects in Mozambique, one of the countries where the company is focusing on expanding its mining operations. Graphite, considered a key resource for the technology and energy industries, has aroused growing interest in the international market, driving investment in regions with high production potential.
