The President of Mozambican Parliament is calling for the inclusion of women in the country’s mining sector, in order to give credibility to their capacities for the development of the mining economy.
Esperança Bias explained that in 1990 Mozambique only had three young female geologists and in 2000 no female petroleum engineers, a fact that is now different.
To justify the increase in women’s participation in the field, Esperança Bias spoke of the desire expressed by the female wing and the government policies that regulate mining activity in the country.
The President of Mozambican Parliament was speaking this Friday in Maputo at a lecture on the challenges facing women in the mineral resource extraction industry, particularly in the hydrocarbon sector.
On the occasion, Esperança Bias challenged the women who work in the hydrocarbons sector to develop policies that increasingly enhance the extraction of oil, gas and other resources that the country has at its disposal.
Esperança Bias’ encouragement is aimed at empowering women, with the desire to see women running mining industries.
