Nampula: Authorities Promote Efficient and Sustainable Management of Mineral Resources

The Secretary of State for Nampula province, Jaime Neto, defended this Thursday, September 21, the promotion, efficient and sustainable management of mineral resources in Mozambique, in order to ensure greater sustainability of the national economy.

According to the government official, who was speaking at the opening of the 5th edition of the Nampula Gems Fair (FAGENA), an event with the participation of 35 exhibitors, including large companies, small operators and other entities involved in research, from various regions of the country, there is currently growth in mining activity, associated with the expansion of geological research that has culminated in the discovery of new mineral occurrences.

“The sector’s legal framework has made it possible to attract investment in the area of research, production and export of our resources, putting Mozambique on the world map,” said Jaime Neto, adding that the fair will make it possible to share products and knowledge, facilitating a better reflection on the current stage, with a view to the challenge of ensuring an increase in processing in the country.

Quoted by the Mozambican Information Agency (AIM), the Secretary of State believes that FAGENA can be the main showcase for precious metals, semi-precious metals and gems mined and marketed in Mozambique, where the province of Nampula, due to its geographical location, stands out at national level as a marketing center, but also a hub for reflection on good practices and gains for investors and the country.

The 5th edition of FAGENA, which closes this Saturday, September 23, will be marked by an exhibition of minerals, business meetings, debates between researchers and specialists in the field, to promote business opportunities.
