Geology, Mines and Society (GeoMinas-SO) is the theme of the international mining conference to be held this Tuesday, May 23, in Maputo at the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM).
It is an event organized by the Higher Institute of Science and Technology of Mozambique (ISCTEM) in collaboration with the geology department of UEM.
The conference is part of SUGERE Project (Sustainable Sustainability and Wise Use of Geological Resources), funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, which involves nine higher education institutions from different countries, namely: Agostinho Neto University and the Instituto Superior Politécnico Tundavala (Angola); University of Cape Verde and University of Santiago (Cape Verde); University of Salamanca (Spain); University of Turin (Italy) and the University of Coimbra (Portugal).
The event aims to strengthen institutional capacity in the area of geology and mining in terms of laboratory equipment and materials, curriculum development and short-term training for faculty.
