Mozambique and Russia recently approved a cooperation programme in the area of geological exploration of mineral resources, to run from 2023/26, the Federal Agency for Mineral Resources (Rosnedra) said, cited by Russian website Interfax.
According to the information published on Monday (3), the decision was taken by representatives of the geological services of the two countries during an extended meeting, which aimed to present and outline the main lines of work, in order to achieve fruitful cooperation.
“We discussed the issue of development in the area of geology and mineral resources, made surveys on the exploitation of various types of resources and addressed the possibility of conducting laboratory and analytical studies,” Rosnedra president Yevgeny Petrov noted.
Petrov added that “in order for this programme to be successful, the parties will establish the legal bases for cooperation and mechanisms for its implementation.”
The source also revealed that during the meeting an agreement was signed to draw up a project that will be carried out by Rosnedra and the Mozambique National Mining Institute.
