The European Union (EU) has disbursed 750,000 euros to implement a project that aims to understand the causes of conflicts in natural resource exploitation regions.
The project aims to identify the dynamics of conflicts, possible solutions and mapping of peacebuilding actors in the regions of greatest occurrence and exploitation of natural resources.
This information was provided on Wednesday in Maputo by the Executive Director of the Institute for Multiparty Democracy, Hermenegildo Mulhovo, at the launching of the project called For an Inclusive and Peaceful Society in Mozambique.
Hermenegildo Mulhovo said that although the Extractive Industry is relevant for the development of Mozambique, it is also a focus of conflicts.
The project will last for three years and will be developed in the provinces of Inhambane, Manica, Sofala, Tete, Cabo Delgado and Niassa by the consortium of partners Council of Religions in Mozambique, Institute of Social and Economic Studies among others.
