Maputo Province: Government Challenges Fishing Authorities to Broaden Commercial Base

The Minister of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, Lídia Cardoso, this Wednesday, May 3, challenged the authorities of the fishery sector, in Maputo province, to provide direct assistance to retailers of various fish as a way to broaden their commercial base.

According to Lídia Cardoso, it is important that the retailers have access to the several types of market at national level for their development.

Speaking during a visit to a Fishing and Livestock Fair, the governor explained that the sector, at the provincial level, can create several channels that allow the retailers to sell the fish in big hotels, restaurants or even to export.

Also in Maputo province, where the minister is due to carry out a three-day working visit, she is scheduled to visit Matola, Moamba and Matutuíne districts, where she will meet with community leaders and artisanal fishermen.

On this trip, Lídia Cardoso will also visit some production units of fish in captivity and mangrove.
