The Container Terminal of the Port of Beira, managed by Cornelder de Moçambique, received on Tuesday (26) its first cabotage container ship, marking the start of this type of operation at the facility and a new step in the relaunch of coastal maritime transport in the country.
According to an official statement, the vessel — the CPG Patricia, operated by CPG Shipping (Civitas) — carried various types of cargo, notably animal feed and fertilizers, in what is considered a strategic operation to strengthen goods circulation between national ports.
Cornelder de Moçambique said the arrival of the ship represents progress in improving domestic maritime connectivity and in creating more regular, secure and sustainable logistics solutions for cargo transport along Mozambique’s coastline.
The company also believes the operation consolidates the Port of Beira’s position as a key logistics hub, with the capacity to support domestic trade and improve efficiency in the movement of goods between different regions of the country.
The launch of this activity is part of ongoing efforts to structure a more regular, efficient and functional cabotage shipping system, as the government and sector operators seek to reduce logistics costs and strengthen national transport corridors. Expected impacts include increased cargo flows between Mozambican ports, stronger local content, and a more resilient national supply chain.
With this operation, Cornelder de Moçambique reiterates its commitment to creating operational conditions that support initiatives aimed at developing the national logistics sector and promoting more efficient and sustainable transport solutions.
