MSC Sets Congestion Surcharge in Mozambique at $500,000

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced it will implement a congestion surcharge at the Port of Beira in Mozambique.

The latest surcharge comes due to ongoing congestion in the region which has created challenging operational conditions.

This surcharge will apply to cargo shipped from the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, to Beira.

The surcharge will be set at $500 per unit for both dry and reefer cargo, effective from 9 December 2024.
