CFM Logistics, a company operating in maritime, port, and offshore logistics in Mozambique, has strengthened its operational capacity with the acquisition of a new tugboat to support maneuvering and berthing operations at the Port of Nacala.
According to Riviera Maritime Media, the vessel, named Messalo, was built by Uzmar Shipyard in Turkey, based on the RAmparts 2500W design developed by Robert Allan Ltd. The official delivery took place on March 6 at the shipyard’s facilities near Istanbul.
Measuring 25 meters in length with a beam of 12 meters, the tugboat was designed for escort, maneuvering, and docking operations in port environments. The vessel can accommodate a crew of up to six and is equipped with two four-stroke diesel engines, each with a power output of 1,900 kW.
The Messalo has a bollard pull of approximately 75 tonnes, enabling it to operate efficiently in demanding conditions, as well as reach a top speed of 13 knots.
The introduction of this new asset comes amid expectations of growing maritime traffic at the Port of Nacala, one of the main gateways for goods in the northern region of the country. The fleet expansion aims to increase port efficiency, reduce waiting times, and improve responsiveness to rising logistical demand driven by regional economic development.
The investment is part of CFM Logistics’ strategy to modernize and expand its logistics services, at a time when Mozambique seeks to strengthen its position as a regional transport and trade hub along the Indian Ocean corridor.
