The water supply has been partially restored in some neighborhoods of the city of Quelimane, which had been affected by the rupture of the pipeline in Nicoadala, which led residents to look for other alternatives to access the precious liquid.
Until last Tuesday afternoon, some residents could already breathe a sigh of relief for having water in their homes, however, they report that they experienced days of great distress, in which they were forced to leave late at night and on some days they camped in front of the Water Supply Fund (FIPAG) to have water.
According to the director of FIPAG in Quelimane, Gilberto dos Santos, the restoration of water only covers a few neighborhoods, but there are others that still don’t have the precious liquid flowing from their taps, as is the case of Micajune. The source guaranteed that, of the 26 thousand existing consumers in Quelimane, only 14 thousand are being supplied.
“We are at a level of more or less 70 percent in terms of catchment, but because we did that work along the pipeline and we cannot add a significant hydraulic load, it is necessary that the concrete that makes the anchoring foundations in the curves gain a consistency for us to add more hydraulic load in the pipelines”, he explained.
