The government has announced an investment of 35 million dollars (2.2 billion meticals) in the rehabilitation and expansion of Nacala’s water supply system.
The figures were released on Saturday 21 September in Nacala by the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, at the laying of the foundation stone for the Rehabilitation and Expansion of the local water system.
On the occasion, the minister said that the infrastructures to be built will include two reservoirs with a capacity of 2,000 cubic metres, a pumping station and a chlorination station.
According to Carlos Mesquita, the rehabilitation and expansion of the Nacala water supply system will maximise the use of the water stored in the dam and allow more than one hundred and fifty thousand people from twelve communities in the region to have access to drinking water.
