The National Roads Administration (ANE) needs about 800 million meticais to repair the damage caused by floods on the road network in Maputo province.
Rubina Noormamad, the ANE delegate in Maputo province, said cited by Diário Económico that the “sector is carrying out small repairs to ensure the transitability of the roads completely cut off by the fury of the waters,” and announced the start, on 13 February, of work on the Impaputo bridge on the N3 (Namaacha district, which links Maputo province to Eswatíni kingdom), also destroyed by floods.
It should be noted that last February, the government had already assured that the repair of infrastructures damaged by floods in some parts of Maputo province would take place immediately after the phenomenon had passed.
