The National Roads Administration (ANE) is investing around 106 million meticals to rehabilitate the most critical points, in a 12 kilometres stretch of Regional Road Number 807, a section that runs from Matola to Moamba, in Maputo Province.
The rehabilitation work began today, Tuesday 24 January, and will last 45 days, during which time traffic will be conditioned.
According to the delegate of ANE in Maputo province, Rubina Normohamed, cited by newspaper O País, the work on the road will be carried out using concrete and it is expected to build three kilometres of drainage ditches on one of the sides of the road.
Normohamed also said that the rehabilitation is of a high quality and will solve a “chronic” problem that is currently being experienced.
Outside the regional road number 807, there are about 30 kilometres of National Road Number Two (N2) in Maputo province which are completely damaged and need urgent intervention. However, ANE said last week that at the moment it does not have the funds to carry out the necessary rehabilitation.
