The Japanese government guarantees that it will continue to support the development of the northern region of the country, with particular emphasis on the reconstruction of the province of Cabo Delgado, affected by terrorism.
This commitment was expressed last Friday by the secretary of the Japanese embassy in Mozambique, Sogo Jikuhara, during a visit to Pemba to assess with co-operation partners the implementation of projects funded by the Japanese government.
According to Sogo Jikuhara, “Japan has a funding portfolio of around 20 million dollars to support security in Cabo Delgado, as well as other development and humanitarian assistance projects”.
He explained that various development and infrastructure projects are currently being carried out in the districts of Mocímboa da Praia, Palma, Muidumbe, Mueda and the capital Pemba.
