The Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, guarantees that the Government is working in order to improve the quality, modernize and expand the asphalted road network in the country.
Carlos Mesquita, who was speaking this Wednesday, July 20, in Matibane, Mossuril district, in Nampula, at the eighth Coordination Council of this area, referred that his cast travelled along the stretch of the National Road Number 1 (N1), from Maputo to Nampula, and verified that the situation requires urgent intervention.
“We are aware of the legitimate concerns that are raised around the passability along the national roads, particularly the N1 and N7. Much of the N1 is in bad shape. The country is extensive, we have to go in parts and with patience. We are guaranteeing better roads and we will certainly do it,” said Mesquita quoted by Radio Mozambique.
Carlos Mesquita urged the officers of the roads and water branches to be more active so that there is an improvement in the levels of maintenance of public infrastructures in these components.
It is expected that in this eighth Coordinating Council, which runs until next Friday, the promotion of investments for the construction of quality and sustainable infrastructures in the country, the situation of roads, bridges, water supply infrastructures, among others, will be discussed.
