The Ministry of Transport and Communications is launching the Road Surveillance Plan for the festive season in the first week of December with the aim of reducing road accidents.
This Saturday, a multi-sectoral brigade headed by the deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Hamilton Alison, climbed some stretches of National Road 4 (EN4) up to Ressano Garcia and National Road 1 (EN1), in Maputo province to survey details aimed at enriching the plan.
Amongst the details is the need to open alternative roads to decongest the two highways and to reinforce road signs.
“We are thinking, among other things, of forcing trucks to stay in a waiting area that is not exactly on the road, but to the left bank without, naturally, blocking the circulation of pedestrians. We are trying to see if we can have an opening in Terminal 4, if it is possible, to have the opening of one of the accesses for trucks, in the process of entry and exit to the terminal”, he said.
