ANE Plans to Rehabilitate N1 by March, at a Cost of Over $800,000

The National Roads Administration (ANE) guarantees that by the first week of March there will be no potholes along the critical points of National Road Number One (N1) in Maputo City. The promise was made as part of the maintenance work currently underway, which is valued at around 844.9 thousand dollars (54 million meticals), according to the newspaper O País.

The rehabilitation work is concentrated above all on the section known as the ‘Mafureira’ stop, in the Zimpeto neighbourhood, one of the most critical stretches and one often cited by road users, especially motorists. This scenario of degradation has been the subject of constant complaints due to the difficult traffic conditions.

According to ANE, the interventions are aimed at definitively resolving the problems affecting traffic on the N1, guaranteeing a pothole-free road by the deadline. ‘By March, all the work will have been completed,’ assures the institution, reinforcing its commitment to improving the municipality’s road infrastructure.

The work includes repairing the most damaged stretches and covers various points along the avenue, which is one of Maputo city’s main transport links. The rehabilitation is part of a wider effort to ensure better mobility and safety conditions for road users.

ANE reaffirms its commitment to the quality and durability of the interventions underway, guaranteeing that the resources allocated are being properly used to effectively resolve the problems identified on Avenida de Moçambique.
