Terrorist activity is delaying the construction of a dam intended to capture water for the town of Mueda, a district plagued by a long-standing and severe water crisis.
The municipality of Mueda had already found a solution to the chronic shortage of potable water: the construction of a dam on the Muela River. However, with the intensification of terrorist attacks, the project has come to a standstill.
The security situation in northern Cabo Delgado remains critical, but the mayor of Mueda still hopes to resolve the chronic lack of drinking water in the town within the next two years.
The construction of the Muela River dam is an old project and is currently considered the only viable solution to the water crisis in Mueda, a town where the population struggles daily to have access to water at home.
