International container shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced the launch of a new fortnightly container service linking Asia to the ports of Maputo, Beira and Nacala, routed via Port Louis in Mauritius.
Designated the Mozambique Coastal Link (MCL), the new service is scheduled to commence operations on 18 September 2026, with the inaugural voyage departing from Port Louis, according to Container News.
The route will operate on a fortnightly rotation between Port Louis, Maputo, Beira and Nacala, enabling the movement of containerised cargo originating in the Far East to Mozambique’s three main ports.
Goods from Asia will be transshipped at Port Louis before being forwarded to Mozambique through coastal feeder services.
ONE said the new service was designed to strengthen trade connectivity between Asia and Mozambique and to increase maritime freight capacity along the corridor between the two markets.
The launch of the route is expected to broaden logistics options for importers and exporters using the ports of Maputo, Beira and Nacala, by establishing a regular link between these terminals and the principal Asian trade lanes.
