The Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, inaugurated the Mapinhane Integrated Technology Transfer Centre (CITTM) in Inhambane province on Monday (10). During the ceremony, the statesman emphasised the importance of the private sector and government partners in the efficient management of this infrastructure, stressing that they are strategic allies in business development.
“The new centre is clear evidence of the effective work of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The project aims to promote productive inclusion, facilitating access to technical assistance, technology transfer, inputs and the promotion of inclusive businesses in rural communities,’ emphasised Filipe Nysui.
According to O País, the development of the CITTM has received financial and technical support from the Austrian government. ‘In addition, negotiations are underway with the African Development Bank and the Arab Fund for the construction of 40 additional centres,’ reads the note.
President Filipe Nysui emphasised the importance of international cooperation for the success of future projects, mentioning the collaboration with Austria in the provinces of Sofala and Inhambane. ‘Other friends (partners) will take over other provinces, and that’s how we’ll be able to move forward,’ he said, emphasising the vision of collaborative and inclusive development.
The project includes the construction of 150 technology transfer centres, which, according to the Mozambican President, ‘promise to revolutionise access to advanced technologies and the modernisation of agricultural practices in rural Mozambican areas’.
“The inauguration of the Mapinhane Integrated Technology Transfer Centre represents a significant step towards strengthening the region’s technological and productive capacities, laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and improving the living conditions of rural communities. The government’s commitment to innovation and international collaboration continues to be an essential pillar for the country’s development,’ emphasised Nyusi.
