As part of the province’s participation in EXPO 2025, Zambézia governor Pio Matos met with Japan’s Kansai Electric Power Group, expressing interest in building a hydropower plant on the Lugela River.
During the visit, Pio Matos toured Mozambique’s pavilion as well as various exhibition spaces from countries and companies such as Japan, Thailand, Uganda, Healthcare, and Pazona (Robotics), which presented innovations and technological solutions with potential future impact.
According to the governor, quoted by Jornal Txopela, these experiences “wake Zambézia up to the world” and strengthen the province’s growth ambitions.
“We came here not just to see, but to plant ideas, establish partnerships, and inspire our people, believing in better days for our Zambézia,” he said.
The governor stressed that Zambézia’s presence at EXPO 2025 goes beyond showcasing its potential: it is an opportunity for learning, inspiration, and redefining the path toward technological progress and the well-being of its citizens.
